Share your insights: Volunteer on an LHSC Board of Directors Committee
Are you looking to give back and improve health care? Consider volunteering as a Community Member with London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) Board of Directors.
What’s the role?
The LHSC Board of Directors is currently inviting applications from candidates who are interested in volunteering as a Community Member on one of the following committees:
Quality and Culture Committee – Responsible for guiding and monitoring the organization in the areas of quality of care, patient safety, corporate safety culture and risk management;
Governance and Transition Committe e – Responsible for assuring appropriate governance processes and procedures are in place to guide the organization; and
Children’s Hospital Committee – Responsible for guiding the governance of Children’s Hospital at LHSC (one of only four specialized children’s hospitals in Ontario).
Community Members serving on a Committee of the LHSC Board are not voting members of the LHSC Board of Directors. However, their input and experience are critical to guiding the Board in its governance of LHSC – one of Canada’s largest research-intensive acute care teaching hospitals and the largest employer in the region.
Community Members share their insights and recommendations, and participate in committee work with the Board of Directors to help inform decision-making and guide the organization’s path forward. They participate in Board orientation sessions, an annual Board retreat, and Board education sessions. The time commitment is 2-5 hours per month.

If you are a community member with volunteer experience and an interest in advancing health care in our region, we want to hear from you Ideal candidates will be comfortable speaking openly in a group, listening to differing opinions, and bringing forward a community perspective to advocate for improvements in care for all patients and families.
