Service Consultant (Benefits) - Hybrid (12‑month contract) at Cowan Insurance Group Bring your expertise to a small‑to‑mid‑size national group benefits client base, delivering service excellence across program assessment, implementation, and communication. What You Will Do Create and update Benefits at a Glance, benefits summaries, and other internal/external reference materials Peer‑review contracts, booklets, and collective‑agreement differences and identify risk exposure Process amendments and prepare employee communications Prepare, attend, and/or conduct client meetings and employee presentations, virtually and in‑person Prepare specifications for marketing, working with clients, consultants, and carriers Ensure a smooth transition of benefits to new carriers, mitigating client risk (plan mapping, member coverage, communication) Coordinate carrier finalist presentations Analyze plan‑design benchmarking and prepare reports/presentations Resolve and address escalated client issues and inquiries with employees, employers, and/or carriers Stay current with carrier communications, legislation changes, and CLHIA guidelines to identify client‑related areas Participate in process‑improvement initiatives Schedule appointments, monitor email/voicemail, prepare letters and spreadsheets, maintain filing, and perform other administrative duties as required What You Will Bring 12‑month contract position Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a similar client‑service role, ideally in the group‑benefits industry Completed post‑secondary degree or equivalent professional experience and training GBA or CEBS designation preferred, or working toward an asset Strong prioritization skills and flexibility to work in a fast‑paced environment Ability to juggle multiple tasks and problem‑solve Attention to detail and high accuracy Capability to work independently and in‑team Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong client‑service attitude and ability to build trust Sound judgement, ethics, and integrity Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) Knowledge of EPIC/CRM software an asset Bilingual language skills an asset Valid driver’s license; periodic travel may be required Authentic self‑presentation in alignment with our values: Respect, Integrity, Client‑Focus, Collaboration, Accountability Who We Are Proudly independent and Canadian‑owned, Cowan Insurance Group has been a true market leader since 1927.
