Reporting to the Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, we are currently seeking an experienced Vice-President, Fleet Management with strong management skills to lead Fednav’s Fleet Management team. Based at our Head Office in Montreal, you will be responsible for the strategic, technical, operational excellence, and budgetary functions ensuring optimal management and performance of our Fleet. Working for an established and respected Shipowner, you will drive innovation and efforts to continue ensuring a focus on the safety and wellbeing of our people onboard and ashore, on optimizing our cost competitiveness and Fednav’s overall ESG performance.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE
- Define and lead the overall safe and efficient performance and long-term planning of our fleet, as well as newbuilding ship design.
- Lead innovation through digitalization, new tools, and ensuring that we continue to operate with an increased focus on operational performance and efficiency.
- Oversee management of our fleet and its budget through third-party representations with vessel management companies to maintain the company’s high service standards, reputation, and compliance.
- Ensure the development of processes, defining key performance indicators, detailing out clear roles and responsibilities, and daily management structure.
- Oversee metrics to drive results and areas of opportunity to improve.
- Support the company ESG journey especially around safety-wellbeing and decarbonization.
- Ensure Leadership of the team including development, motivation, inspiration, and engagement.
WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON
- A minimum of 15 years in the maritime industry or an industry with strong links with the maritime industry.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar leadership position.
- Seagoing experience is considered a preferred asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and strong business acumen.
- A proven track record of building and managing successful teams driving employee engagement, in a similar context.
- Strong communication skills with energy and enthusiasm.
- Ability to self-motivate and work closely with core business functions.
- Proven experience in managing relationships and service level agreements with external partners.
- Strong commitment to providing exceptional customer experience with measurable results.
- Able to develop and execute on business strategy.
- Able to present/communicate complex and analytical information to all levels of the business and facilitate a common understanding of the content at an individual level.
- Proven experience in developing and leading change management programs. Bilingualism required (French and English) with strong English written and spoken skills.
