Who are we looking for? Our Tunnel Group and Rail and Transit Group are growing, and looking for an Intermediate Tunnel Engineer to join us in Mississauga or Markham, ON. You will play a key role in a variety of tunnel engineering projects. The Tunnel Group is a dynamic team working on tunnelling projects for large diameter subway transit lines in GTA, municipal projects in Ontario, pursuits in Vancouver, and subway lines in Australia. Responsibilities Assist with project work within GHD’s Rail and Transportation business and support other tunnelling projects across Canada or internationally. Respond to technical and administrative tasks related to tunnel and station development. Perform analysis for tunnel liners and shaft design using PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience, etc. Prepare tunnel reports for proposals. Attend client meetings with supervisors. Skills and Competencies Experience in tunnel design or construction teams. Designing large diameter tunnels (6m+). Designing deep shaft and shoring structures. Experience with tunnels in soft ground and transit underground support. Proficiency with industry-standard geotechnical software (PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience). Knowledge of tunnelling and shaft construction methods. Experience with settlement analysis and instrumentation. Construction experience with TBMs and precast linings. Knowledge of ground treatment and ground freezing. Ability to prepare GBRs and review GDRs and geotechnical investigations. Cost estimating and scheduling for tunnel projects. Technical report writing and presentation skills. Assist with project pursuits and proposals. Qualifications Degree in geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering (Master’s preferred). Professional status (e.g., P.Eng) or working towards it. At least 4 years of experience in tunnel and underground projects. Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G).
