Requisition Details:u00A0 Employment Status: Permanent, Part-time (0.6 FTE)Program Name: Southwest Ontario Therapy Program - London/Middlesex Number of Hours Bi-Weekly: 75Work Schedule: Days, EveningsOn Call: NoExisting Vacancy: Yes - we're currently hiring candidates for an existing vacancy in this position. u00A0Job Summary:u00A0 The Speech and Language Pathologist works closely with adults who have various levels of speech, language and communication challenges assessing clients' needs and developing individual treatment programs to enable each client to improve as much as possible.u00A0 At this time, SLP service delivery is able to be provided virtually and face-to-face.Key Responsibilities:Manages a caseload of adults who have various levels of speech, language and communication challenges.u00A0Assesses, diagnoses, and treats swallowing and communication difficulties arising from a variety of causes, e.g. congenital problems (such as cleft palate) or acquired disorders after a stroke or injury.u00A0Develops, implements and revises relevant treatment programs supporting positive health outcomes.u00A0Advises caregivers on implementing treatment programs and trains other professionals in therapy delivery.u00A0Assesses communication environments of clients.u00A0Monitors and evaluates clients' progress against planned outcomes.u00A0Works with clients in a one-to-one basis or group environment to deliver therapy.u00A0Writes and maintains confidential client case notes and reports, as well as information for clients, caregivers and other professionals.u00A0Manages a caseload taking account of priority cases, waiting lists, successful outcomes, referral and discharge of service users.u00A0Works with others to improve the effectiveness of service delivery.Common Responsibilities:Promotes the goals and values of VON and their role as an integrated community care provider.u00A0Promotes a safe and healthy workplace ensuring workplace conduct and activities are in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and compliant with the VON Safety Management System, including all Policies, Safe Work Practices and Procedures.u00A0Abides by all VON policies and work practices.Abides by all confidentiality and protection of personal information policies, regulations and practices and ensures appropriate safeguards are in place within their role.Works in collaboration with other staff in a team approach to service delivery.External and Internal Relationships:Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, alongside other health professionals such as doctors, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.u00A0Liaises with professionals in education and the social services.Education, Designations and Experience:Master's Degree (or grandfathered prior to 1994 equivalent in Speech-Language pathology).u00A0 u2022 u00A0u00A0u00A0u00A0 Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).u00A0Certification with the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA) is preferred.u00A0Minimum of 2 yearsu2019 experience in an equivalent role.u00A0Skill Requirements:Strong computer skills are required (including but not limited to Microsoft Office), as is the knowledge of computer software relating to speech-language skills.Demonstrates proficiency in the use of technology for documentation of patient outcomes.u00A0Ability to communicate well, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.Ability to adjust to working in different social and economic environments.Ability to respond to changes in patient caseloads and care needs. u00A0Other:Must have personal vehicle and possess both a current driveru2019s license and proof of vehicle insurance.Current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required.Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).u00A0Working conditions and physical demands:This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.
