As part of the Turner Construction family, we offer the personalized culture of a local team with the strength of a global leader.Reporting to the HSE Manager and/or HSE Lead, and accountable to the Project Manager and Project Superintendent, the HSE Advisor is responsible for providing support to the Project Management Team on the actions necessary to maintain compliance with legislation, the Clark Builders HSEMS and/or client rules and requirements. This is a travelling HSE Advisor position based out of Edmonton, AB, with reasonable travel accommodations provided.Duties & ResponsibilitiesHave a working knowledge of Clark Builders’ Health Safety & Environment Management System (HSEMS) as well as WorkSafe BC legislation, WorkSafe Saskatchewan (Sask. OHS) & Alberta OH&S LegislationAdvise and collaborate with the Project Management Team and Trade PartnersProvide information and help implement applicable Occupational Health and Safety, and Environmental Legislation and Regulations to all stakeholdersVerify that site supervisors have adequately prepared their employees to act appropriately in emergency response situationsVerify the project is following the Project Specific HSE Plan through auditing and observationAssist project personnel in conducting field level Pre-Task Plans (PTP) when requiredConduct PTP reviews for accuracy and relevance to the work being performedComplete HSE training and orientations for project personnelIn conjunction with the Project Superintendent, accompanying local WorkSafe /Occupational Health and Safety representative(s) during workplace inspections and verify corrective measures necessary to comply with legislation are takenMonitor Trade Partner safety performance and verify correction and redirection as neededPerform audits and additional inspections as directed by Project ManagementAssist in preparing trending reports for leading and lagging indicators, utilizing Procore reports to identify and address deficienciesPrepare monthly HSE performance statistics and circulate to Project Management and as otherwise directedProvide support and recommendations with the incident investigation processAssist with the implementation, communication and review of the Project Specific Emergency Response PlanAssist with permitting requirements as defined by the client and Clark Builders’ Health Safety & Environment Management SystemMaintain HSEMS documentation (Inspections, Hazard Assessments, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Toolbox and HSE Meetings, etc.)Maintain positive and professional working relationships while interacting and communicating with all levels of management, clients, consultants and visitors to promote safetyCollaborate with the Injury Management Coordinator on the management of occupational injuries, illnesses, and Modified Work PlansPerforms other related duties as assigned by ManagementSkills & KnowledgeMust have commercial construction industry field experienceMust be a leader of safety excellence, resourceful, organized and understand the principles of Health and Safety ManagementAbility to confidently speak to groups regarding safety at orientations and large meetingsStrong attention to detail, effective communication skills; confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic formMust display a high level of autonomy in order to prioritize work tasks and deliver resultsPossesses strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and effectively communicate with othersDemonstrated willingness to contribute actively to team activities, sharing experiences and ideasAbility to manage multiple assignments with tight timelines and work in a team environmentPositive attitude, strong client focus and results drivenExcellent organizational skills that demonstrate the ability to resolve conflicting prioritiesAbility to identify problems/issues, generate solutions, resolve conflict, and make sound decisionsMust have a good understanding of workplace health principles, industry best practices and standards, Injury Claims Management, Environmental and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety LegislationMust have the ability to maintain confidential informationPrevious construction experience and knowledge of construction processes is requiredMust have a valid drivers’ licenseQualifications & ExperienceMinimum 3 years experience in field HSE and/or construction positionsProfessional designation required such as (CRSP, CSP, ASP, NCSO, etc.)First aid Level 2 / Emergency Medical Responder is preferredProficient/intermediate Microsoft Office SuiteExposure or understanding of principles of LEAN thinking and assetExperience with coaching teams in collaborative planningExperience with continuous improvementWillingness and ability to travel regularly to project sites as requiredClark Builders Group of Companies (CBGOC) is aware of fraudulent job offers and interview requests falsely made in our name, targeting international job seekers.
