Senior Mainframe Developer with Cobol, CICS, IMS DB/DC, DB2, VSAM, JCL, MQ experience to support a deposit project with a major Canadian bank- 39247 Location Address: Scarborough / Hybrid: 3 days (Potential to change to 4 in future) Anchor days: Monday, Thursday. (Flexible 1 day) Contract Duration: 02/16/2026 to 07/31/2026 (Possibility of extension) Schedule Hours: 9 am – 5 pm Monday‑Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week Story Behind the Need Business group: Canadian Banking Deposits Engineering Project is about enhancing a new savings product based on new features such as tiered pricing and client rewards. Job Responsibilities Analyze highly complex business requirements and generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications. Act as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation, and analysis efforts. Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement, and support solutions. Assure quality, security, and compliance requirements are met for the supported area. Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment, adapting quickly and adjusting work accordingly in a positive manner. Must Have Skills 10+ years of hands‑on Mainframe application development experience in large enterprise or financial services environments 10+ years of experience with core mainframe technologies: Cobol, CICS, IMS DB/DC, DB2, VSAM, JCL, MQ 10+ years of working knowledge of MVS, TSO/ISPF, VM, and mainframe batch processing 8+ years of experience with SQL, SORT utilities, IBM mainframe utilities, and scheduling tools such as Control‑M or CA‑Jobtrac 8+ years of experience with change management, debugging and productivity tools such as CHANGEMAN, XPEDITER, INTERTEST, FILEAID, FILEAID/DB2, and related utilities 5+ years prior experience in technical leadership or team lead roles Hands‑on experience in designing, developing, and successfully deploying large‑scale projects from end to end Hands‑on experience in following iterative and agile SDLC Nice to have Experience with system integration projects including mergers or platform consolidations Proven experience working with Tier‑1 banks, supporting and enhancing mission‑critical financial systems (e.g., credit cards, banking, rewards, collections, deposits, ATM/ABM systems) Exposure to interface services and data exchange between mainframe and front‑end applications Soft Skills Required Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications High work ethics Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with various team members and stakeholders Strong analytical, problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills in production environments Education A bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is required Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong hands‑on experience with designing, developing, and successfully deploying large‑scale projects from end to end. Interview Process 1 round: MS Teams video interview with panel – hiring manager and 2 technical team members – 60 minutes. Behavioral and technical based questions based on previous experience.
