We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Personal Tax Services Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of T1 personal income tax returns and income statements for clients undergoing insolvency proceedings, including bankruptcy and consumer proposals. This position offers the opportunity to utilize and enhance your tax and financial reporting skills in a professional environment that values accuracy, discretion, and client care. Key Responsibilities Prepare and file T1 General Personal Income Tax Returns for clients in bankruptcy and consumer proposal proceedings, in compliance with CRA and OSB regulations. Compile and prepare pre-bankruptcy and post-bankruptcy income and expense statements based on client-provided documentation. Review and verify supporting documents, including T-slips, medical expenses, benefit slips, receipts, etc. Assist in the reconciliation of income for surplus income calculations and related bankruptcy reporting requirements. Maintain accurate and complete electronic client files, ensuring all data is handled with confidentiality and integrity. Communicate with clients and the CRA to collect missing information, clarify financial details, and provide updates as needed. Report and provide support to senior staff and Licensed Insolvency Trustees as required with administrative and other related tasks. Remain current on CRA policies, personal tax regulations, and insolvency-specific tax procedures. Assist with answering phone, email & in person questions from individuals in the insolvency process and creditors. Assist with other insolvency, administration, and support duties outside of the tax season. Qualifications Diploma, degree, or current enrolment in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field, successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Academy Level 1, or related experience. Previous experience in preparing Canadian personal income tax returns and an interest in bankruptcy and insolvency administration. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and financial calculations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; ascend; familiarity with tax preparation software (Profile, Cantax) is an asset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with clients. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment. Proficiency in both spoken and written English language. Must be detailed oriented. Ability to work effectively individually as well as part of a team. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
