Regardless the challenge – our engineering and manufacturing excellence has earned us a world class customer base.As a key member of the Engineering team, you will support the achievement of the following team goals:Generate robust engineered designs, with a keen emphasize on manufacturability, budget, and scheduleStrive to minimize and eliminate non-conformances [NCR] through continuous improvementContribute to project success by supporting the manufacturing and project management teamsPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:Design responsibilities include:Static structure designMaterials selectionMachine dynamicsFabrication designPower transmission component selectionDesign validationPreparation of drawing packagesBOM creationAcceptance test procedure creationProject documentationDesign within defined project technical requirements, budgets and timelinesWork utilizing Handling Specialty and applicable industry standardsSupport the engineering team to develop quality technical solutionsMentor and guide junior designers and engineers on best practices and design standardsWork closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to ensure design intent is met through the development process.Peer technical review of engineering drawings, calculations, and other related documentationProject technical liaison between engineering and manufacturing at both Handling Specialty manufacturing facilities (Grimsby and Hamilton)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Proficient with SolidWorks (with formal training preferred); experience with Simulation desirableProficient with AutoCADProficient with MSOffice suiteDemonstrated design experience with hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems, manufacturability, fabrication processes and GD&T.Proficient with performing calculations pertaining to machine design (speed, force, torque, power, pressure, etc.)Strong organization and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCreative and analytical thinker, with strong problem-solving skillsStrong Interpersonal skills, able to work individually and as part of a teamEducation and Experience:Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience in designing custom industrial equipment.Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) considered an asset but not requiredExperience working in an ISO 9001 certified environment an assetWorking Conditions:Position is full time at both HSML Grimsby & Hamilton plants based on location of project buildsDisclaimer:We thank all applicants for their interest in exploring employment opportunities with Handling Speciality; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
