Job Description AECOM Canada is seeking a Strategic Business Development & Enterprise Pursuits Director to lead major pursuits, strengthen client relationships, and drive strategic growth across Canada. This role can be based in any AECOM office in Canada. Responsibilities Talent Developer – Encourage diverse and inclusive collaboration leveraging AECOM’s global footprint to enable individual growth and collective success through trust, autonomy, accountability, and alignment. Build a pursuit team and succession plan for capture management at AECOM. Connect the pursuit team to AECOM bid strategies and ensure our clients get the best AECOM experience for every pursuit. Coach and support other team members in building strong relationships across the organization. Actively support the attraction and retention of capture management talent. Facilitate the growth and success of AECOM’s next generation of leaders by providing opportunities such as cross‑border / business‑line experiences. Have experience building internal AECOM teams combined with external teams to position us to win. Highly Accountable – Deliver results and lead others to do the same; manage risk to lead through change and ambiguity advancing AECOM’s vision, purpose and strategies. Accountable for AECOM’s ECP success in partnership with regional leadership. Implement best pursuit practices in partnership with business line leadership to ensure high quality, technical excellence and a consistent client service experience. Identify areas of high risk and proactively take actions to positively impact outcomes and remediate risk. Set short‑ and medium‑term goals and strategies for pursuit teams to align with AECOM and client needs. Propose skill‑development approaches and workforce planning to deliver capabilities for the future. Understand AECOM’s risk profile and lead preparation for Price, Risk and Contract Reviews, demonstrating good understanding of commercial elements of contracts and pricing strategy to win. Have extensive knowledge of AECOM’s capabilities and who to connect with globally within the Business Line. Industry Standout – Establish a self‑as a strategic, collaborative leader with expertise in field, market or with clients. Be recognized by clients as a leader within AECOM able to drive change. Hold in‑depth market and technical knowledge. Demonstrate an external presence in the market and active participation in industry groups. Influence leadership to ensure bid opportunities are prioritized. Work with Regional Business Line and Market Sector Leaders to identify new business opportunities and propose solutions to address them. Identify long‑term and disruptive trends in your area of expertise. Drive client adoption of key AECOM initiatives such as ESG and digitalization. Partner with clients to respond to their innovation agenda. Client Builder – Deeply understand client priorities, remain client‑focused and connect team to their vision, ensuring the best AECOM experience each time. Serve as AECOM’s pursuit lead for ECPs. Develop strong relationships with critical stakeholders. Able to build consensus to change client expectations in challenging situations. Champion ethical and safe working practices. Integrate AECOM and client values to positively impact AECOM’s wider reputation. Provide role‑modeling leadership attributes to others. Drive growth in potential project pipeline. Lead the capture of significant new business opportunities and the renewal/extension of existing large‑scale agreements. Build relationships with key client suppliers and partner organizations. Liaise with Market Sector and Regional teams to identify growth opportunities. Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and collaborate across Regions and business lines to build consensus on commercial terms. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience in strategic pursuits and capture management or major program delivery, including 4+ years in a leadership role. 12+ years leading complex, multi‑disciplinary pursuits for large programs or enterprise clients. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading enterprise‑level or transformational pursuits for major public‑sector agencies or top‑tier private clients. Deep knowledge of Canadian infrastructure markets, client priorities, and competitive dynamics. Ability to influence senior leadership on pursuit strategy, prioritization, and resource alignment. Experience integrating JV partners, subcontractors, or external specialists into major pursuit teams. Strong external profile (industry groups, associations, speaking engagements, panels). Experience advancing innovation agendas (ESG, digital delivery, data‑driven pursuit strategies). Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or similar) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated commercial acumen, including experience with pricing strategy, contract risk, and governance reviews. Proven ability to set direction, manage risk, and lead teams through ambiguity. Strong understanding of the infrastructure consulting industry and how to leverage global technical or pursuit expertise. Proven relationship‑building skills with clients, partners, and internal leaders. Ideally 3+ years experience coaching or developing pursuit/BD teams. Additional Information Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $200,000 to $275,000.
