We are currently seeking a Project Principal in our Building Restoration to work out of either Burlington, Kitchener or Toronto office.

Responsibilities:

  1. Act as technical lead and senior peer reviewer on projects; be responsible for technical review of documents produced by other project managers and junior staff;
  2. Undertake investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages, roofing, building envelope, leakage assessments;
  3. Prepare specifications and manage tendering process;
  4. Procure new projects and clients through identifying business development opportunities and leading proposal efforts;
  5. Attend industry events and help increase MTE’s technical profile in the industry;
  6. Comply with corporate standards; contribute to development of building restoration technical practice systems and training of junior staff;
  7. Expedite projects from inception through the investigation, specification and construction stage;
  8. Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor receivables and be responsible for the financial health of the project;
  9. Through project management you continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and to develop lasting client relationships;
  10. Be responsible for managing project risks;
  11. Manage deliverable compliance;
  12. This position is based within MTE’s Burlington office. Travel to project sites across southwestern Ontario and in the GTA is required. Mileage will be reimbursed for work related travel;
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Building Engineering;
  2. Minimum of +15 years of related experience as a consultant in building science;
  3. P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered;
  4. Well-rounded in building science and structural restoration including knowledge in roofing, waterproofing, structural rehabilitation, masonry, windows, curtain walls, sealants, EIFS, site paving and other cladding systems;
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills;
  6. Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities;
  7. Strong organizational skills;
  8. A team player approach to problem solving;
  9. The successful candidate must possess a valid class G driver’s license.
