Occupational Therapist - Allied Health - Full Time (4) Reporting to the Manager of Allied Health, the successful candidate will provide assessment, program planning, treatment, follow-up and program evaluation to inpatients and outpatients following practice standards set by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. The role offers experience in inpatient surgical, medical, intensive care, stroke, geriatric rehab, high‑intensity rehab, transitional care, outpatient neuro rehab, and hand clinic settings. Responsibilities Provide assessment, program planning, treatment, follow‑up and evaluation to clients in the hospital and community. Screen patients and referrals for priority of intervention and facilitate referrals to appropriate health‑care and/or community programs. Assess patients’ physical, cognitive and functional abilities; plan and carry out individualized treatment plans to maintain, improve or restore abilities and prevent dysfunction. Collaborate with patients and families/caregivers in developing treatment goals and encouraging family participation in the implementation and ongoing modification of the plan. Assign components of treatment to, and supervise the practice of, Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs). Communicate regularly with the interdisciplinary care team, including physicians and other health‑care professionals. Work within the scope of practice and standards laid out by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Act as a role model, mentor, and/or preceptor for learners, new graduates and new hires from various disciplines. Stay up to date on best practices, research and legislative requirements. Support various quality‑improvement initiatives. Be flexible and accommodating to support evolving workload demands and priorities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited university program in occupational therapy. Current registration with, or eligible for registration with, The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). Must maintain current Professional Portfolio and participate in audit process as required by COTO. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Patient‑focused mindset. Flexibility, adaptability, organization and prioritization skills. Extensive knowledge of community resources.
