Under the general guidance of the Assistant General Counsel and Head of Legal Services, the successful candidate(s) will be responsible for providing timely, effective and practical legal direction, advice and assistance in support of Manitoba Hydro's HVDC Reliability Program and other Manitoba Hydro projects in the areas of procurement, contracts (construction, goods, services, and consulting), and commercial law. Responsibilities Assist and/or lead the drafting, review and negotiations of various contracts for the HVDC Reliability Program and other Corporate projects. Provide timely advice and opinions to management and staff respecting procurement, contract drafting and interpretation, real property, intellectual property and other commercial matters. Advise management and staff on the legal implications of contract terms and conditions. Assist with requirements of regulatory reviews of the HVDC Reliability Program and other Corporate projects as required. Monitor evolving case law, regulatory and legislative developments and provide advice regarding how same impact the corporation. Qualifications Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from a recognized University plus a minimum of five years' experience in Canada in the areas of procurement, contract and commercial law. Must be a member in good standing or eligible for immediate membership with the Law Society of Manitoba. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Extensive experience in procurement law and strategy including drafting, review and negotiation of contracts for construction and major infrastructure projects as well as supply of goods, services and consulting engagements. Experience with various types of construction agreements in Canada including stipulated price, cost-plus, lump-sum, time and material, construction management, and design build. Experience and knowledge in drafting and review of CCDC and FIDIC agreements is an asset. Experience in commercial transactions, real property, software licenses, and intellectual property licensing and protection. Demonstrated ability to implement innovative means to accomplish goals and solve problems as well as the ability to plan, adjust priorities with changing demands and complete assignments appropriately. Ability to interpret and apply legislation. Excellent legal research, analysis and writing skills. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong and positive working relationships. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to address multiple projects in a time sensitive environment. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Must obtain a clear personnel risk assessment screening. Salary Range Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the Lawyer IV classification is $78.96-$99.43 Hourly, $151,304.92-$190,530.08 Annually.
