Description

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Production and Inventory Control, the Planner is responsible to plan weekly schedules and/or assess future demand/supply projections to effectively utilize plant capacity. He/she is also expected to plan sales orders; and release work orders in a timely and orderly fashion as per the schedule to ensure minimal interruptions to all work centres. The Planner will ensure customer satisfaction in accordance with Winpak standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan custom orders, and work towards achieving a completion date that meets our internal and external customer expectations.
  • Ensure all required documentation is accurate, indicate what materials are to be used, what materials are to be produced, and clearly note any necessary special instructions required.
  • Allocate demand to the appropriate work centers to ensure that we achieve optimum efficiency, lead-time and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to ensure that we continually look at methods to reduce aged inventory and increase our inventory turn ratio.
  • Pinpoint bottleneck resources and adjust schedules accordingly.
  • Sequence the week’s workload in a fashion that maximizes productivity, efficiency, and work centre utilization.
  • Monitor and maintain daily schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Address inquiries pertaining to production control issues from the Marketing and Technical Departments.
  • Respond to inquiries in keeping with Winpak's Total Quality Program.
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the Department and Company.Interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak’s TQI program.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education and/or CPIM/APICS are an asset.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a basic understanding of the scheduling process. Previous related scheduling experience is preferred.
  • Computer experience with Word and Excel. Experience with manufacturing, inventory, and scheduling-related programs is preferred.
  • Must be analytical and able to question the status quo.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work with tight time restraints with minimal supervision.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and openness to change.
  • Good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
