OverviewGeneral Function: Reporting to the Vice President of Product Development, and joining our Product Development team, the incumbent will hold an integral role in creating a next-generation mobile experience for our iQue intelligent grilling system. This role will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining a seamless mobile application that connects users with our smart grilling technology—delivering precision, convenience, and an elevated outdoor cooking experience.SafetyUnderstand and comply with company safety procedures.Ensure that all personnel involved and outside advisors or consultants (as applicable) have received the proper training, understand, and comply with our company’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy as required.Ensure that all future business plans comply with safety standards established for the appropriate jurisdictions.QualityISO 9001:2015 is a globally recognized standard for quality management. Its requirements define how to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve a quality management system (QMS).Understand and demonstrate the importance of always maintaining and producing top quality product and your specific role in the Quality Program.Ensure that all departmental personnel comply with Onward’s ISO 9000 Quality Management System requirements.App Development: Design, develop, maintain, and improve the company’s current mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms that integrate with iQue intelligent grilling systems.Seamless Integration: Develop and coordinate a cohesive user experience between the company’s mobile app and website, ensuring design consistency, performance harmony, and shared functionality.User Experience: Champion best practices for user interface design, accessibility, and responsiveness to create an intuitive and engaging app experience.3rd Party Development / Releases: Manage the Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts for the organization. Manage access, updates, terms agreements and required upkeep for App Store Connect, TestFlight, Play Console and beta software testing, enabling and monitoring app distribution, including reviews and app status.Analytics and Reporting: Track app performance, related in-app sales, user engagement, retention, crash reports, etc. to provide monthly reports to management team.Front-End Leadership: Lead the design and optimization of the mobile app’s front-end interface to deliver a modern, responsive, and user-friendly experience. Collaborate with in-house marketing and graphics team to acquire up-to-date assets.Back-End Management: Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance the back-end infrastructure of the mobile app to ensure stability, scalability, and security.Connected Product Development: Collaborate within the connected product portfolio to integrate new features, provisions, and updates directly into the mobile app, ensuring real-time synchronization across digital platforms.Feature Implementation: Translate product requirements into technical solutions, implementing new features, performance improvements, and UI/UX enhancements.Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews, debugging, and testing to maintain high standards of performance, security, and reliability.B2C Focus: Build and optimize mobile app functionalities that enhance customer engagement, streamline navigation, and promote seamless interactions between users and the company’s products and services.Documentation: Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for code, APIs, and development processes.Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess app performance metrics, user feedback, and emerging technologies to recommend and implement ongoing improvements.Specific Skills / Experience RequiredSkilled in Swift and Kotlin (plus Objective-C or Java) using iOS and Android SDKs, including SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose.Cloud-Based App Integration (AWS):Experienced in building and managing apps connected to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for backend, data storage, and authentication.UI/UX Design:Capable of creating intuitive, responsive interfaces following Apple and Google design standards.Experienced with App Store Connect, Google Play Console, Git, and CI/CD build automation.Performance, Security & Teamwork:Focused on clean, efficient, and secure code; collaborates effectively in Agile teams with designers and backend developers.Additional RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).3+ years of professional mobile app development experience.Proficiency in cross-platform app development software.Experience integrating Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or IoT device connectivity within mobile applications.Strong understanding of cloud based architectures.Familiarity with version control, pipelines, and agile development practices.Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences.Passion for grilling, cooking, or connected consumer products is a plus.Working ConditionsThis role necessitates that the individual be present in the office, as remote work is not permitted.Work HoursAs required.Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm EST.Additional time as required may include overtime.Onward Manufacturing Company is a leading global manufacturer of premium quality, high performance gas barbecue grills.
