Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Revealed Seniority and Role Senior‑mid level, full‑time position based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Job function: Project Controls – Lead Estimating. Key Responsibilities Establish best practices, methodologies, and governance‑aligned processes to ensure consistency and accuracy in estimating. Prepare detailed cost estimates for project proposals, budget development, and financial forecasting. Conduct thorough estimate evaluations, host validation sessions, and ensure estimates meet quality and reliability standards. Work closely with project managers and teams to review project scope, validate estimates, and maintain alignment with objectives. Establish and maintain the estimating database, ensure data integrity, and assist in defining key performance indicators (KPIs) to track accuracy and efficiency. Evaluate and refine estimating processes by integrating data analysis, stakeholder feedback, and advances in best practices and technology. Provide guidance, training, and resources on estimating tools, techniques, and standards to enhance team proficiency. Implement a benchmarking framework to enhance estimating accuracy and consistency. Participate and coordinate Risk Assessment and Contingency sessions. Qualifications and Professional Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 10+ years of related work experience in pipeline infrastructure and associated facilities. Strong knowledge of project control processes, including estimating, cost management, planning and scheduling, risk, and change management. Proficiency in estimating software and tools. Strong familiarity with Stage Gate Project Delivery Model best practices. Strong knowledge of AACE estimate classifications and estimating techniques. Collaborative leader with a passion for mentoring, coaching, and fostering teamwork; capable of navigating and facilitating difficult conversations. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster teamwork within the department and across functions. Strong problem‑solving abilities and sound decision‑making skills. Thrives under pressure, adept at managing strict deadlines and shifting priorities. Critical focus on accuracy and detail; works efficiently in a high‑paced, agile, dynamic, and multi‑task environment. Other Requirements and Information May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on weekends. 5–10% travel to various site locations may be required.
