Position Summary A Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and driving company growth. This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, and collaboration with various departments to achieve business objectives. What You'll Do Provide recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business issues. Develop business cases for projects with projected ROI or cost savings. Translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks in alignment with the overall business strategy. Serve as an interpreter and conduit to connect business needs with tangible solutions and results. Recommend new processes and ways of working. Interpret business metrics and relevant data models and reports and utilize appropriate data points to highlight and explain simple to moderately complex business issues to stakeholders and customers/sellers. Apply methods to scope customers/sellers in complex markets/industries. Oversee scoping and qualification activities of team members to build a pipeline of prospects. Predict trends and directions of sales scoping and qualification based on past information and experience. Evaluate new industry opportunities to determine the scope of sales. Conduct strategic sales planning activities for limited product lines. Assist senior sales professionals with strategic sales planning in multiple scenarios. Assist in estimating sales trends in the market. Use key factors, measurements, and variables used in forecasting to assist in creating sales forecasts. Participate in the preparation of short-term forecasts for a specific product. Locate useful information and sources of input used in weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts. Research the client base for a better understanding of customer/seller wants and needs. Assist in delivering sales proposals effectively to attract customers/sellers. Review proposals and presentations for ethical, technical, and legal accuracy. Assess customer/seller feedback and prepare responses. Assist in designing organizational sales proposals under the guidance of others. Assess and lead fact-based decisions in high-risk situations and educate team members on negotiation strategies. Formulate and execute complex negotiation plans and address unanticipated issues. Identify similarities and differences in positions and assess impacts on discussions. Disseminate verbal and written communications to counter other parties positions and set the foundational structures for desired outcomes. Protect company positions while demonstrating willingness to achieve a win-win scenario. Detect and address negotiating stalemates. Detail risks of negotiation breakdowns from each party's perspective. Adhere to and coach team members on company and regulatory retailer-supplier relationship processes, values, and policies. Demonstrate understanding of product/solution features for simple to moderately complex areas of the business. Gain insight on customer/seller specific category/industry. Discuss and explain different product features to customers/sellers as appropriate to their needs. Articulate the value propositions of relevant features to customers/sellers. Provide demonstration of product features as required during the sales cycle. Work with stakeholders (e.g., merchants) on product assortment mix and develop plans as needed. Understand the drivers of the financial metrics that impact the business and how they can change business results. Perform analyses based on independent reasoning to draw appropriate conclusions. Analyze business and financial data and support the implementation and tracking of business plans that enable attainment of financial goals. Understand impacts of factors and trends that may affect financial performance. Communicate results of analyses to audiences. Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or related field and 2 years’ experience in business development, market development, product development, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in business development, market development, product development, or related area. Preferred Qualifications 2 years’ supervisory experience. 2 years’ experience in sales.
