The incumbent provides program consultation and co‑ordination, evaluation of clinical interventions, preceptor students in formal clinical practicum, and provides professional and public education regarding mental health and addiction issues and resources. As a practitioner, acts as a resource for other professionals for mental health and addiction in the community. Education PhD in Clinical Psychology Experience One year (post‑doctorate) recognized experience in working within community mental health and addiction services. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of a variety of mental health disorders and interventions; addiction and harm reduction strategies required to enable clients to sustain stability. Knowledge of and ability to select, administer, and interpret a comprehensive range of psychological tests; ability to utilize computerized assessment and interpretation software packages. Broad knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies is essential. Demonstrated experience working with mental health and addiction community outreach and competence in delivering mental health and addiction crisis interventions. Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of intervention strategies (individual and group) for individuals with mental health and addiction problems in a community based setting, including, but not limited to: assessment, diagnose, triage, treatment, case management. Demonstrated ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention. Demonstrated cultural competency skills. Knowledge of Recovery philosophy. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self‑motivated manner, ability to respond under pressure. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting. Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act. Excellent consultation and public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships. Excellent interpersonal competence including effective problem solving; workload management and conflict resolution skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to prepare reports in a clear concise and timely manner. Ability to provide public presentations. Demonstrated ability to enter and retrieve data in a computer database system . Other Information Preference to HSAS members as per the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement Must have a valid driver’s license. Some assignments may require access to a vehicle for work.
