The Communications Specialist will support the New Brunswick Drug Plans, clients, providers, and plan members by delivering clear, timely, and transparent information that advances the department’s strategic objectives. Opportunity The Communications Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the department, clients, providers, and plan members by providing clear, timely, transparent, and up-to-date information regarding the New Brunswick Drug Plans, policies, procedures, and strategic objectives. The role contributes to the development and implementation of all communication plans and special projects to advance priorities within the department and the NB Drug Plans, working collaboratively with the Government of New Brunswick. In this position you can work out of our Moncton office in a hybrid capacity, or remotely throughout NB. Travel to Moncton for internal meetings and quarterly or ad‑hoc visits to Fredericton for client meetings is required. Key Responsibilities Lead policy research, development/management, and implementation of policy direction. Work collaboratively with the client to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the NB Drug Plans, including client objectives and communication needs. Contribute to the creation and implementation of communication plans to support daily operations and projects. Provide input on all internal written communications supporting the NB Drug Plans, including training materials and team-based documents. Support in‑person and all‑hands sessions and needed communications within Medavie Blue Cross and externally in collaboration with the government customer. Act as the final approval point for editing materials within and external facing on behalf of NB Drug Plans; oversee, write, and edit content for department and external communications (emails, scripts for employee events, presentations, website updates, announcements, key business updates, etc.). Manage communication processes and planning with the leadership team, including change management needs and involvement with larger projects or initiatives that result in substantial new materials or significant changes to current documents. Distill complex information into digestible, engaging, informative pieces for employees (storytelling). Modify writing tone and voice according to the audience. Stay updated on innovations in communication practices, particularly new platforms/digital channels, and demonstrate a strong understanding of change management theory and practice. Qualifications Post‑secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of related experience; government experience preferred. Proven experience in policy development is required. Exceptional written communication skills, including editing, proofreading, and attention to detail. Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive subjects/issues professionally. Solid time‑management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills with a collaborative approach in fast‑paced environments. Self‑starter and problem‑solver who works well independently and as part of a geographically dispersed, virtual team. Understanding of best practices to communicate across a diverse, hybrid employee base. Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Webex, and SharePoint. Aptitude for technology. Language Requirement Must be fluent in English (spoken and written). Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset. Security Clearance Requirement In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes fingerprinting, criminal record check, credit check, and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold permanent resident or citizenship status.
