The Senior Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting and reporting for a portfolio. As part of the Accounting Team, Project Accountants work closely with the finance, development, and construction teams.Full cycle accounting for several different projectsAssist in preparation and coordination of quarterly Investor Reporting PackagesAssist with monthly updates to proforma forecasts.Coordination of monthly budget reviews – Update actuals, work with development & construction managers to update, coordinate and document follow up and action itemsMonitoring project cash requirements; preparing and acting as point of contact for project capital calls, distributions, loan draws and repayments.Document, monitor and liaise with interdepartmental teams with regards to project milestones (LC tracking and release, warranty periods, deposits and prepaids)Implementation and management of internal controls, business processes and procedures for project accountingAssist in developing and maintaining documented accounting policies, procedures and training materialsLiaise between accounting divisions, finance, marketing, construction and development departments to ensure timely completion and accuracy of interdepartmental tasks (job cost, equity and bank financing, budget reviews, proper approvals)Provide support to all functional areas of the business, including senior management – Reporting of financial information, contributions to annual budgets, quarterly reportingMentor and support junior staffAssist with special projects, assignments and Ad hoc requests.QualificationsExperience in construction or real estate an assetBachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalentProfessional accounting designation (CPA) or have successfully passed your CFE3+ years of industry accounting or public practice experienceDemonstrated analytical and critical thinking skillsAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with Sage Intacct a great assetStrong interpersonal skills – professional, friendly, courteous and an ability to build relationshipsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to prioritize and complete projects within tight deadlinesDemonstrated time management and planning skills; ability to actively manage competing prioritiesAttention to detail is critical for success in this roleAccounting knowledge specifically for real estate under ASPE #J-18808-Ljbffr
