To learn more about The City of London’s commitment to Anti‑Racism and Anti‑Oppression, visit the ARAO website.Job Close Date: Jan 30, 2026File Number: 3252Employee Group: Local 101Service Area: Environment and InfrastructureDivision: Water, Wastewater and StormwaterJob Type: Full‑Time Temporary (up to 1 year)# of Openings: 1Summary of Duties:Assist the Water Engineering Division to administer, manage, carry out and approve various technical studies, designs, construction and maintenance works, reports, agreements and applications related to the operation of the Division.Work Performed:Student will assist Professional Engineers and/or Technologists in the following tasks.Conducting technical review and prepares engineering responses on water distribution, requirements resulting from Planning Act Applications.Review of various technical studies, computer analyses, designs, drawings, applications and proposals submitted by consultants, developers, contractors and others for approval by the Division.Preparing \"Request for Proposal\" for Consulting Engineers. Reviews submitted proposals for approval.Administering capital works projects. Monitors the project for compliance with the City’s Construction Project Safety Management Procedure, and Health Safety Act and Regulations and takes action appropriate to correct contraventions.Preparing designs, estimates and agreements for construction and maintenance works and coordinates the work of Consultants performing similar activities.Ensuring application of and compliance with approved technical policies, standards, methods and procedures of the division to consultants, developers, contractors and member’s of the public, and to other Divisions, Departments and government bodies.Preparing reports and supporting documentation for Committees and Council, and recommends to Division Manager for approval.Reviewing payment certificates, change orders, purchase orders, and invoices for contractors and consultants for work performed, correctness and progress of work, and recommends to Manager for approval.Scheduling, arranging, attending with other divisions/departments, contractors, individuals, utilities and other external agencies and authorities to plan, coordinate and discuss projects, including public meetings and forums, as a City technical representative.Investigating complaints and inquiries and provides information and/or makes recommendations on resolving problems.On‑site investigation, providing technical expertise and resolution of basement flooding, drainage, water quality and water pressure complaints.Carrying out field liaison with contractors, City forces, consulting engineers, businesses and homeowners as Division representative.Performs related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Student must be enrolled in a three year Community College Civil Engineering Diploma recognized by Ontario Certified Engineering Technician and Technologist (OACETT).Specialized Training & Licenses:Full G Class License recognized in the Province of Ontario.Compensation & Other Information:$23.00/hourThis posting is for one (1) temporary full‑time co‑op student from May‑September 2026.Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 50% work in office and 50% work from home.
