Join us.THE OPPORTUNITYOpenText is seeking a commercial Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team performing commercial transactional work for an established but growing line of business. This diverse role will require negotiating and drafting a wide variety of commercial technology agreements in support of North American sales activity, including cloud services agreements, software licenses, and professional services. The role is also one of trusted legal advisor supporting a growing, dynamic line of business, working with cross‑functional groups, researching novel product offerings, and handling escalations. Key responsibilities include analyzing and providing guidance on company transactions and new go‑to‑market products, evaluating risk, updating templates, creating efficiencies, delivering training, and managing projects that benefit the legal team and department. Experience doing business with regulated industries, and understanding or interest in data privacy / data security a plus. Solid “hands on” experience drafting, negotiating and providing guidance on a wide variety of agreements; particularly in software licensing, hosted/cloud‑based product agreements, professional services contracts, and maintenance and support agreements. Knowledge of working within the IT sector and assisting sales executives on commercial and sales transactions. As you move through the hiring process, we’re happy to provide more details about our compensation programs, including variable and commission compensation opportunities for eligible roles, vacation entitlement, and paid time off.Salary Range: $130,000–$180,000; Depending on the candidate’s education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.California Residents: The pay range above is a reasonable estimate of salary based on pay scale, candidate experience, skills, and education.
