The Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary is inviting applications for a full-time, position in the Department of Chemistry, specializing in Computational Chemistry for Energy Materials. The successful candidate will be appointed as an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Chemistry, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, biology, computer science or related area and be an excellent emerging researcher that combines molecular dynamics with machine learning and multiscale modeling to investigate processes at the atomistic and molecular levels in soft matter, interfaces, and materials. The candidate is expected to have an energy focus in application areas such as hydrogen production, CO¿ utilization, next-generation battery materials, and/or energy storage and conversion; have a proven record of research excellence commensurate with the applicant’s stage of career development; and have a demonstrated record or potential to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program. Interdisciplinary experience and working with teams will also be an asset. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank requires a strong publication record demonstrating excellence in computational work AND/OR a strong record in alternative, non-traditional outputs such as (but not limited to): community outreach (popular press, interviews, public or online seminars, etc.), resource development (online databases, protocols, etc.), and scientific service. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning and the use of contemporary approaches to teaching. Candidates must demonstrate a clear dedication to upholding the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly, research or creative activities.
