Position Title: Category Development Manager Position Type: Regular - Full-Time Requisition ID: 39506 Location(s): Ontario, Toronto, Canada As global leaders in Potato and Snacking it is critical that we effectively engage our customers in the shared opportunities for category growth and unlock these through compelling category strategies, tactics and activities. With the Senior Director, Channel & Category Development (SDCCD), the Category Development Manager (CDM) will be responsible for developing the MCX assets to elevate category leadership. The CDM will also identify category strategic needs, develop and deploy category growth strategies with regional partners, elevate our category leadership capability, and support the development and use of automated tools and insight based best practice. The CDM will work with the regions to support and develop our category leadership with specific priority customers. The CDM will support Global Growth and Strategy team with appropriate category and market intelligence and analytics and support the Global Category community to connect and collaborate to drive best practice adoption. It is an expectation that the role embraces and embeds technology, including AI, to accelerate category development across McCain. Responsibilities Enable and embed MCX for Category – work with the SDCCD to develop MCX Category Planning & Execution playbooks and associated tools to elevate category leadership, develop category capability, and establish category management principles with all markets. Elevate our Category strategic approach – support the development of country or regional product category strategies working with in‑house SMEs/3rd‑party specialists and the category capability tools and resources to elevate category leadership and support their adoption through coaching. Support Priority Customers – provide category management expertise and resources to develop relationships and business on an ad‑hoc basis. Strengthen Category Resourcing – understand and assess our core customer needs and calibrate our category resources against them to identify gaps and potential solutions. Establish Best Practice – work with the markets to develop insight‑based best practice to support category and sales growth and strengthen our leadership with customers. Build Category Community – develop and drive connectivity and collaboration across the Category community to build functional expertise and onboard new appointments. Measures of Success MCX category process and tools adopted and utilized. Category strategies development programme in place. Category capability development programme in place. Improved delivery and effectiveness of high‑profile customer category presentations. Successful project management and delivery of prioritised initiatives. Qualifications Degree in a business‑related discipline. Advanced customer or category development experience within a commercial environment. Customer and channel strategy development and execution experience within an FMCG company, preferably branded. Advanced communication and presentation skills. Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills. Collaborative planning using Teams/SharePoint. Power BI dashboard/similar. Project Management experience. Ability to effectively work with virtual and diverse teams and manage workflow. Advanced stakeholder engagement capability. Customer‑obsessed mindset, with a passion for simplifying complex processes and building intuitive user experiences. Strong leadership and influencing skills. Adaptability in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. Collaborative, solutions‑oriented, and entrepreneurial approach. Compensation Package $97,500.00 – $130,000.00 CAD annually + Bonus Eligibility. The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organisational needs.
