Location: Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, Brossard, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, or Halifax. Team and Job Overview: The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. DTS has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC: Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation. Establish and manage the rolling 3‑Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state. Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies. Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user and employee experiences. We have an opportunity for a results‑focused individual with strong interpersonal, influencing and strategic thinking skills to enable the transition of EDC business objectives & related requirements into industry‑standard, best‑practice enterprise aligned technology solutions. This role reports to the Director of Digital Delivery Marketing & Architects team. The Architect’s technical expertise is broad and covers data, application and technology architecture domains including cloud migration, enterprise information modelling, data quality, metadata, master data management, data integration, data warehousing, BI, data visualisation, ETL, API, portals, CMS, ERPs, workflow, digital design, UX, security and single sign on. What you will be doing: Interact with stakeholders to understand business needs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and guide technology choices. Oversee implementation and operationalisation of end‑to‑end solutions. Diagnose problems and help solve complex issues. Promote EDC architecture and cybersecurity principles. Understand technology impact on business processes, applications and data. Design overall technological architecture of the product. Partner with Tech Lead to guide software engineering practices. Develop architectural standards, principles and templates. Problem‑solve architecture questions. Identify and remove technical impediments, engaging in coding. Ensure technical considerations are communicated and implementation conforms with design and enterprise architecture. Align roadmap with strengths and opportunities. Support product and delivery teams. Look for better ways of solving technical problems. Ensure consistency in architecture and engineering approaches between teams. What we are looking for: Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field. Minimum 7 years of experience delivering IT solutions or as a Solution Architect. Thorough understanding of modern ecosystem concepts: domain architecture, microservices, APIs, streaming, cloud technologies, real‑time dataflows, orchestration, cloud, DevOps. Strong ability to align organisation on complex technical decisions. Experience in Agile Delivery, with specific Solution Architect experience. Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills. Deep technical knowledge in architecture and development patterns and how to realise non‑functional qualities. Experience managing technical priorities within the backlog. Excellent verbal and written communication, critical and strategic thinking, time management, priority planning and interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills with stakeholder management. High level of initiative and ownership. Ability to adapt in a fast‑paced, evolving environment. Collaborative mindset with a problem‑solving attitude. What will make you stand out: Cloud Certification (Azure preferred). Experience with the Well‑Architected Framework. Experience in DevSecOps practices. Bilingual in both official languages (English and French). Eligibility: Applicants must be Canadian citizens or hold valid permanent residency cards at the time of application.
