Clinical Psychologist of Policing

Department: Criminal Investigation DivisionResponsibilities:Develop relationships with police community partners such as Mental Health agencies, School Boards, Social Services, Family Services, adult and youth probation agencies, as well as community-based organizations.Research relevant professional literature to determine best-practice approaches as they pertain to police that reduce offending and increase officer safety.Develop, implement and evaluate new methodologies in critically important areas where best practice has not yet been established; e.g. interpersonal violence (IPV), offender management.Develop and implement skill-based training for police officers.Provide leadership at the community level; e.g. integrated crime reduction strategies and leadership at the national and international level, including the Saskatoon and North Battleford Serious Violent Offender Initiative.Establish provincial, national and international research partnerships, while conducting research, evaluations and clinical audits.Develop affiliations with the University of Saskatchewan, the University of Regina and the Saskatchewan Police College.Provide clinical consultation to the Saskatoon Police Service regarding mental health related issues of offenders.Collaborate, consult, guide, educate and assist SPS Criminal Investigative Units and their community partners, prosecutors, probation services, etc. with a victim-centered approach to offender risk evaluation and management, in conjunction with developing intervention plans for victims.Liaise with major stakeholders; e.g. Mental Health/Education/Social Services/YO/Family Services and Adult Probation.Collaborate with Units/Branches within provincial ministries who have responsibility for evidence-based offender crime reduction strategies.Provide psychological consultation to the crisis negotiation team during critical incidents attended by police officers.Provide clinical supervision to psychology trainees delivering clinical forensic services.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:PhD in Clinical Psychology.Registered PhD level psychologist with expertise in clinical and forensic psychology and eligible for registration in Saskatchewan.Several years’ related experience in the Clinical Psychologist field.High level of independence of function.Innovation in integrating diverse knowledge areas resulting in new methodologies in critically important areas.Research expertise.Ability to work well in a team environment.Ability to develop provincial, national and international research partnerships.Ability to influence community stakeholders.Ability to represent the Police Service and Government of Saskatchewan in national and international forums.Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.Additional Information:Applicants must be able to work in-person as this position does not allow for remote work.Salary: $146,576.88 to $172,227.36 per annum (2022 rates)AccommodationThe Saskatoon Police Service strives to provide an accessible and inclusive workplace for all, including throughout the application and selection process through reasonable access and accommodations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
