Job Description Title: Field Operations Manager (FOM) Location: 8929 20 St, Edmonton, AB T6P 1K8 The primary responsibility of this position is to direct all aspects of the Operations of the Service Business in a specified location and/or multiple locations across a Territory. Achieve profitable growth through operational excellence while delivering the best experience possible for our customers. This position reports to the Territory Operations Manager or as applicable. Geographical area of responsibility: As defined by offer letter/Territory coverage. Oversee the execution of safety policies and programs, leading safe work practices, organizing, documenting and reporting monthly safety meetings, approving POWRAs while maintaining all safety-related documentation per company guidelines/PPE. Supervise and manage daily operations, supporting field operatives (technicians) and coordinating with staff operatives (service, maintenance and technical coordinators) to support all service calls, inspections and repairs. Plan, assign and manage field labor hours to maximize profitability and productivity (95%). Review margin and manage WIP performance of service jobs to ensure accurate execution within estimated labor hours and costs; analyze and report significant deviations from original plans or scope of work changes. Support and lead schedule of inspections and repairs. Respond to and support emergencies as needed. Provide technical guidance to customers and technicians to facilitate contact with appropriate resources. Ensure field operatives perform safety and visit reviews, coordinating with inside sales staff in the service review; coach field operatives to execute reviews. Promote leads brought in by field operatives; take appropriate actions/quote emergencies to ensure quick response and coordinate with inside sales. Resolve customer complaints within established guidelines to the satisfaction of the customer and in the best interest of the company; elevate unresolved issues promptly. Collect warranty information, monitor and report potential warranty or credit requests to the TOM prior to authorizing work; communicate status with customer and authorize work/PO as appropriate. Assist the TOM in establishing training needs and requirements for all field operatives. Oversee larger repairs and projects to ensure successful completion. Review and approve technicians’ time in MM4 and WP submitted daily for completeness, accuracy, correct allocation and policy compliance. Monitor and coordinate maintenance of company equipment and assets to ensure they are in proper condition. Assist the TOM with spot inspections and audits of service technicians’ equipment and vehicles and record results. Oversee invoicing weekly to meet sales targets and maintain the open orders report reflecting the status of active service work. Ensure on‑call and 24‑hour response availability or negotiate other arrangements with customers. Monitor the credit control list and assist in collection efforts of problem accounts as needed; consult district staff prior to delivery of services or materials to accounts outstanding for over 60 days. Manage miscellaneous branch activities such as shipping/receiving, shop cleanliness, equipment/building maintenance, answering service calls. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications A university or technologist degree with major relevance to the position’s purpose is preferred; prior equivalent experience and training will be considered in lieu of a formal degree. Three (3) years’ minimum experience as a manager in service‑related operations. Must have demonstrated leadership skills, well‑developed “people” skills, an understanding of mechanical and electrical principles, good written and verbal communication skills, and competent PC skills. Prior experience with cranes and industrial service is a plus. Must have and maintain a good driving record and be willing and able to travel to different locations.
