Were a team united by our daily habits of building trust, looking at the bigger picture, leaning into challenges, and being better today than yesterday.Crafty Penguins is based in Lethbridge, Alberta, however, this job posting is fully remote.If youre a person who is driven by creativity and getting results, then this role is made for you.Youre good atRising to challenges and solving technical problems with a clients business in mindThinking and working independently while collaborating with others to reach creative solutionsFollowing existing processes while suggesting ways to improve themCommunicating in a number of ways (writing and speaking) to both get things done and honour peopleConstantly learning keeping your technology skills up to date with the industry norms, best practices, and upcoming technologiesAttention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and superior time management skillsAbility to meet deadlines and self-manage your workloadYou haveAdvanced knowledge of Linux-based operating systemsAdvanced knowledge of NetworkingExperience using various cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCloud, Digital Ocean)Debugging problems with Unix based operating systems and IP based networking at a very low levelNo problems working in either RHEL or Debian based linux distributionsGood knowledge and experience with: Debugging container based workloads, and their runtime tooling (LXC / D, Docker, Podman)Container orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, etc.)Linux based hypervisor systems and related tooling (KVM, Xen / XCP-ng, Proxmox, etc.)Good scripting skills with Bash and Python5+ years experience doing the items aboveExtra awesomeYouve worked at a company that does Linux consulting, or youve done this as a contractorYouve used a ticketing system like ConnectWise or some other tool to manage tickets and track timePerformance tuning, debugging, and clustering of Linux based Database Systems (MySQL, Postgresql, SQLite) and SQL in generalHigh level networking skills - Campus / Enterprise networking, VLANS, VPNS, Managed switches, Overlay networks, Dynamic routing protocols.Software development experience in various languagesCertifications on our platforms and products (AWS, Azure, K8S, RHEL, and the like)2-year technical diploma (CIS or CS) or greaterWhat youll doCommunicate and handle client requestsHandling client system alertsConducting client system patching and health checksPerforming deployments via our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Onboard new clients and create roadmaps for improving their infrastructureTime tracking for all hours workedSome afterhours will be requiredHave a ton of fun with an awesome teamWhy join usWorking at Crafty Penguins can accelerate your career and give you the opportunity to work with world-class talent.
