As a Lab Patient Technician you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation. This role is essential to patient care and our business, and provides a direct impact on Canadians’ lives. Status: Casual Float (0-37.5 hours per week) Schedule: Varies – availability from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm is required Location: Home base – 311 Commercial Drive, Milton, ON (Reliable transportation required); Float position for two locations in Milton – 311 Commercial and 470 Bronte. Saturday availability is required. Number of Positions: 1 Start Date: ASAP Responsibilities Greet patients, request required information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed necessary test protocols prior to collection. Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings. Collect special tests such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation. Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests. Enter data of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other details related to processing test results. Prepare specimens for transportation and testing. Qualifications Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent (preferred). Phlebotomy experience is an asset. ECG training or experience is an asset. Excellent communication skills. Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm. Strong customer/patient service orientation, able to relate to patients and clients even in stressful situations. Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
