We believe in promoting from within, respecting people and their differences, providing high quality service and always having fun If you think you have what it takes to join our team, we want to meet you Position Details Position: Casual Security Officer Site: St. John’s Port Authority Overtime: After 48 hours Hours: As Needed Payrate: $20.00/hour Posting Date: November 4th, 2025 Internal Closing Date: November 15th, 2025 External Closing Date: November 15th, 2025 Schedule Example: As Required Key Responsibilities Based on specific site posting, log and report all incidents reported by SJPA staff or visitors. Patrol interior and exterior of facility preventing unauthorized entry; in a composed manner direct individuals initiating disruption to leave the premises. While on patrol, monitor risks such as unlocked doors, blocked entrances, mechanical issues, hazardous material and additional breaches of security. Respond to alarms and emergency calls for assistance, monitoring situations, cameras, property and events. Communicate in a truthful and receptive manner under all circumstances and provide information regarding the facility as requested by personnel. Sustain effective relationships with key managers and visitors through courteous and respectful relations perceived from their viewpoint. Monitor and screen visitors and clients in a professional manner to grant access to the facility. Access control to monitor, record and submit written reports of the arrival of all vessels in each respective zone including arrival/departure time and berth location. Prerequisites Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check. MTSC (Marine Transportation Security Clearance). Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C from a CSA‑approved vendor. Valid Class 5 Driver License. English (oral and written) fluency is a must. Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin’s UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to meet the requirements. The UoF/MOAB training is not paid; Paladin will cover all costs with a 6‑month commitment to the position. Why Choose Paladin? Opportunities for training and professional development.
