RT Medical Job Description

RT Medical is looking for a qualified part-time Podiatrist to join our team. This crucial role will involve promoting foot health, diagnosing and treating foot-related ailments, and improving the quality of life for clients. This role demands a combination of clinical expertise, compassion for patients, and a dedication to ongoing professional development.

As a Podiatrist with RT Medical, you will be assisting in-home care clients as well as servicing Long Term Care and Retirement Centers with comprehensive foot care services, including:

  • Assess, diagnose and treat foot conditions according to the College of Chiropodists of Ontario. These conditions include but are not limited to diabetic foot care, nail care, biomechanical assessments, custom orthotics, wound care, measuring for compression stockings, and procedures such as PNA/TNA/soft tissue lesion excisions.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on the diagnosis, which may include prescribing medications, orthotic devices, or recommending specific exercises.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures such as toenail removals, wart treatments, and wound care.
  • Provide foot care services for conditions like corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, and diabetic foot complications.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on proper foot hygiene, preventive measures, and self-care techniques to maintain optimal foot health.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient consultations, treatments provided, and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with caregivers and health care team to provide care to clients
Skills and Experience Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings, including acute care hospitals, retirement homes, and home care environments
  • Understand and respect economic, cultural, religious, racial, and gender diversity to provide inclusive and sensitive care to clients from various backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with computer and phone applications
Education and Certifications Required
  • A graduate of a recognized Chiropody/Podiatric Medicine program
  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario
  • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance
  • Member of the Ontario Society of Chiropodists (OSC) and Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine (CFPM) preferred
  • Up to date CPR Certification
  • 2+ years of clinical experience
  • Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car preferred
  • Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
  • Clear criminal background check, and Vulnerable sector check are required upon hire
