Radiation Safety Specialist - Temporary Full-timeSunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI).Job SummaryMaintains and oversees radiation safety operations, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial regulations and institutional policies.Salary and HoursSalary Range: $47,287 - $60,681/hrHours: Days (on‑call as required, flexibility required)Summary of DutiesEnsure all activities involving radiation comply with regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures.Monitor and audit compliance with relevant regulations.Provide radiation dose calculations and risk evaluation for patients and staff.Respond to, investigate, and follow up on radiation‑safety related incidents/accidents.Prepare technical reports, including shielding reports, dose assessments from unplanned events, and hazards/environment assessments related to radiation‑emitting devices.Perform emergency response, risk management, and continuous quality improvement.Calculate shielding plans and equipment installations.Support an appropriate radiation‑safety training program.Develop guidelines and documents specific to Sunnybrook employees and stakeholders.Perform other duties as required.Qualifications / SkillsMinimum Bachelor of Science in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Health Physics, Medical Physics, Radiation Biology) or equivalent.2‑4 years recent, related professional operational radiation‑safety experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Canadian Radiation Protection Association designation preferred.Knowledge of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act, HARP Act, RED Act, CNSC and MOH/MOL regulations and guidelines.Knowledge and understanding of radiation protection philosophies, procedures, equipment, and techniques.Experience working with radiation and radioactive materials and/or devices in a healthcare environment.Excellent written and oral communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and provide solutions.Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.Seniority LevelEntry levelEmployment TypeFull‑time #J-18808-Ljbffr
