Overview An exciting opportunity awaits a nurse who wants to expand their clinical leadership in a busy emergency room at South Health Campus, an urban facility. The facility is guided by four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. The role is to act as the clinical leader for each shift, managing patient flow, supporting the team, and serving as a patient advocate and link between patients, families, and care providers. The successful candidate will coordinate workflow, reassess priorities, respond to needs, and model professional leadership, catering to quality improvement and positive team dynamics. Responsibilities Coordinate inter‑professional team activities to provide quality patient, client, or resident care in line with operational priorities. Assist, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs using an integrative leadership approach. Assign staff, manage patient flow, and allocate clinical resources. Provide safe, quality, patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services. Maintain registration standards and comply with legislative and College of Registered Nurses Alberta (CRNA) practice standards. Classification Nurse Clinician Union United Nurses of Alberta Unit and Program Emergency Department Primary Location South Health Campus Position Details FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 09-JAN-2026 Employee Class: Regular Full Time Available Date: 26-JAN-2026 Hours per Shift: 11.08 Length of Shift in Weeks: 12 Shifts per Cycle: 40 Shift Pattern: Days, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Shift Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Salary Minimum: $44.71 per hour; Maximum: $61.18 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with CRNA. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years full‑time equivalent as a Registered Nurse in a Calgary Zone Emergency Department setting. Current experience as a Nurse Clinician or Nurse in Charge in a Calgary Zone Emergency Department. Demonstrated clinical expertise with pediatric and adult patient populations. Proficiency with computer systems. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Nursing (preferred). Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course (ENPC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Emergency Practice Interventions and Care (EPIC). Graduate from Advanced Critical Care Nursing (ACCN) in Emergency (preferred). Demonstrated understanding of the LEADS framework.
