Accountant

Carmela Industries is the parent company for Summit Valve and Controls (est. 1992), Special Alloy Fabricators (est. 1989), and Custom Energized Air (est. 1999). We operate behind the scenes, providing strategic guidance and corporate services (accounting, HR, marketing, and IT) to each company. Carmela Industries is a privately owned enterprise, and proud to be Canadian As a key member of the Accounting and Finance team supporting all offices within the Carmela Industries group, the Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial information to support strategic decision-making. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The successful candidate will contribute to financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives, helping to ensure the integrity of financial data and operational efficiency. The job description and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Execution Full Cycle Accounting; sales reports, verify and reconcile GL and subledgers, and facilitate inventory and manufacturing processes, etc. Prepare and maintain accurate monthly and annual financial statements and reports. Execute month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support business decisions. Ensure balance sheet integrity through regular reconciliations. Maintain compliance with statutory requirements including income tax and sales tax filings. Manage and document fixed asset transactions and controls. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic initiatives. Document and improve financial processes and workflows. Assist with the development of new processes and procedures to coincide with ERP implementation phase(s). Assist with and participate in future projects/initiatives. Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial tasks as required. Provide applicable stakeholders and staff with accurate, knowledgeable information as required. Collaborate with team members as required to ensure appropriate expectations, deliverables, and communications. Communicate organizational needs to the Controller. Share knowledge and participate in problem-solving as requested. Skills and Abilities Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Education and Experience Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (University or College level). CPA designation is preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
