Join to apply for the Senior Product Manager role at Helcim. About Helcim Helcim was founded with a mission at heart: to be the world’s most loved payment system. We believe that by offering small businesses in North America a decidedly human payment solution where it is easier to sign up and use while being transparent and affordable, we can empower them to grow and prosper. Simply put, helping small businesses thrive is at the very core of our business model, and we think that’s a great way to do business. From the start, we wanted to be different from every payment processor out there. We want the merchants we serve to feel supported and see us as a trusted partner rather than simply another “cost of doing business.” We are relentless in our pursuit to provide a radically transparent and honest payments solution that flat out saves business owners money, all while treating them like human beings. The Position We’re on a mission to build better payments, and that means delivering secure, seamless, and merchant-friendly processing experiences. As a Senior Product Manager on our Software Apps team, you will shape the roadmap for our payment systems. This role is more than prioritizing the backlog—you will own the product lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring a seamless and secure payment experience for our customers. This role requires a deep understanding of payments software, a strong ability to translate user needs into detailed features, and a proven ability to deliver impactful payment solutions through effective roadmap and backlog management. While you may not have all this experience Day 1, you’re excited to go deep to understand the ins and outs of payments. Responsibilities Here are the things you’ll own day to day: Own and champion the product roadmap for our core payments platform, aligning it with the overall company goals and objectives. Translate user needs and business requirements into a prioritized backlog of features and enhancements for our payment systems. Manage the product backlog, ensuring it is constantly refined, updated, and reflects the current priorities of the core payments team. Collaborate with engineering, design, and other cross‑functional teams to estimate, plan, and deliver on the roadmap. Provide mentorship and guidance to more junior teammates and create a radius of impact that extends across teams. Ensure timely delivery and continuous improvement of our payment processing systems through effective roadmap execution. Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in the payments space, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate them into the roadmap. Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and identify opportunities to differentiate our payment offerings. Execution & Optimization: Manage the entire product lifecycle for your area, including research, design, development, and launch within the core payments domain. Oversee the implementation of product initiatives from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery and successful adoption. Identify, build, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track product performance, identify areas for optimization, and measure the success of initiatives. Analyze user behavior, conduct market research, and leverage data‑driven insights to inform roadmap and backlog prioritization. Serve as a liaison between the development team and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment around the roadmap and backlog. Communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization, providing clear and concise updates on product progress, challenges, and opportunities. A Successful Candidate 6+ years of relevant product management experience, with a strong focus on customer‑facing software, ideally in payments. Experience with agile development methodologies, roadmap planning tools, and backlog management systems. Proven ability to define and manage a product roadmap that delivers impactful payment solutions. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform product decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. A deep empathy for users and a customer‑centric approach to product development. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, computer science, engineering). Not checking every box? Please apply anyway We know that candidates have different experiences that may make them a great fit for this position and for Helcim. We believe that diversity and having an inclusive culture is not only the right thing, but key to our long‑term success. Key Competencies Roadmap Planning: Ability to create and maintain a clear, actionable roadmap that aligns with business objectives and user needs. Backlog Management: Expertise in prioritizing and managing a product backlog to ensure efficient development and delivery of features. Execution: Ability to drive product initiatives from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery and successful adoption. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Data‑Driven: Ability to analyze data, derive insights, and make informed decisions to drive product growth. Technical Fluency: Possesses an understanding of software, APIs, and ideally payment technologies and can effectively collaborate with engineering teams. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and influence without authority. Ownership: Takes responsibility for the success of the core payments products and initiatives. Helcim Culture Being builders: We build things ourselves and we build them well. We use technology and our creativity to overcome challenges that would seem beyond the capability of a company our size. We improve what is already there, invent our way out of problems and we never stop dreaming of better. Choosing the harder path: We believe that the right decisions are usually the harder ones, so we embrace the challenge and endure when others quit. We choose what is difficult because it is more rewarding in the long term, and makes us resilient. Creating trust: We earn trust by striving to be our best selves every day and by lifting those around us. Contributing to a company of many: We are stronger because of our collective passion, diversity, and fellowship. We believe only great teams can accomplish great things, and we ask the very best of each other. Together we create our own future. Benefits Health and dental benefits: Through our Group Benefits, you’ll get access to dental benefits, extended healthcare benefits for drugs, vision, paramedical coverage, counseling, health service navigation, life insurance, critical illness and disability insurance, and more. All of these benefits come into effect on Day 1 of employment. Dedicated Health Spending Account (“HSA”): An additional budget available for you to spend on health‑related expenses. Maternity and Parental Leave: Salary top‑up for birthing parents and a bonding break for non‑birthing parents. Stock options: Every team member, not just leaders and executives, receives equity. Vacation Time: All team members get paid vacation time and company break in December. Flexible work location: Hybrid schedule with work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays; core hours for flexibility. Training: Helcim will cover 50% of relevant training costs up to $500 per year. Logistics Job type: Full‑time Hiring manager: Mike Quick Location: Hybrid, in office Monday, Wednesday, Friday Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be located in Calgary. #J-18808-Ljbffr
