They uphold Klinic’s vision, mission and values while promoting social change, problem-solving in human relationships, and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being. Social Workers are part of the inter-professional team at Klinic within the counselling services. Taking into consideration the Social Determinants of Health model, Social Workers recognize the complexity of interactions between clients and their environment and the impact of this complexity on the mental health and wellbeing of clients.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor of Social Work degreeCurrent registration with the Manitoba College of Social WorkersMinimum of two years supervised experience in community health or related areaAbility to work in an inter-professional environmentAbility to work from a harm reduction modelStrong understanding of the counselling processUnderstanding the social determinants of health and their impactDemonstrated commitment to community-based health careStrong Knowledge of community resourcesExperience providing crisis counselling including risk assessmentsExperience facilitating groupsAware of and sensitive to issues of cultural diversityAbility to work from an anti-oppression and anti-racism perspectiveDemonstrated effective communications skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekendsAbility to work independently and demonstrated decision making abilitiesProven ability to work from an empowerment modelProven ability to optimize team and program functioningProficient at word, email, internet searches, and electronic medical records (Accuro an asset)RESPONSIBILITIESProvide social work services within the parameters of the Manitoba College of Social Workers Standards of Practice and Code of EthicsConducts intake for counselling servicesProvide short-term supportive counsellingProvide crisis support when a referral to the crisis lines is not appropriateAssist clients navigate formal social service systems such as EIAProvide support, information, referral and links to appropriate community resourcesLiaise with other programs at Klinic for health servicesEngage in building and supporting an inter-professional environmentLiaise with community resources/networks and service organizationsFacilitates groupsProvide public education and training activitiesProvides support for learnersWorks as part of a team and promote team functioningCharts appropriately according to Klinic proceduresParticipates in training courses and in services offered elsewhere and by Klinic to maintain and improve quality of serviceAttend staff meetings as requiredParticipates in program planning, evaluation and quality monitoring including completing daily statisticsParticipate in formal self – evaluations by identifying strengths and limitationsSeek appropriate supervision/consultation of own actionsAdheres to all agency policies, protocols, procedures and promotes best practiceOther duties and functions related to their job description not exceeding the above qualificationsAdditional RequirementsWork environment consists of smudgingSatisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry checksSALARY RANGE$40.536 per hour - $52.900 per hourKlinic is committed to working towards having a more equitable and diverse work force at all levels of our organization.
