Our team is a diverse, tight knit group of engineers, scientists, and business professionals that likes to spend time together in and out of the office, whether that is weekly badminton nights or team lunches. We are a team passionate about cars, cool technology, and working together to dominate the market segments we operate in. You can learn more about Alchemy at: www.alchemynano.com The Role We’re hiring a Nanocoatings Application Engineer to support the development and evaluation of advanced material formulations as they are adapted to new application contexts. In this role, you’ll work hands‑on in the lab to develop, tune, and prototype formulation systems, focusing on understanding material compatibility, processing considerations, and performance tradeoffs across different application pathways. Your work will help establish early technical confidence in how our materials behave beyond their initial integration routes, informing decisions about future development and scale‑up. This role sits at the intersection of materials R&D and applied engineering, with close collaboration across formulation, test development, and product teams. It’s well suited to a generalist who learns quickly, enjoys experimentation, and thrives in a fast-moving technical environment. Key Responsibilities Support the development and refinement of advanced material formulations through hands‑on laboratory experimentation and iterative testing. Assist in translating formulation concepts into early‑stage, working prototypes suitable for evaluation in a range of potential application contexts. Work with cross‑functional R&D teams to explore material compatibility, processing considerations, and performance tradeoffs at a practical level. Support experimental work related to application methods, processing parameters, and scale‑relevant considerations, with a focus on learning through iteration. Contribute to the preparation, execution, and documentation of laboratory tests and evaluations. Maintain clear experimental records and summarize findings to support internal decision‑making and knowledge transfer. Operate effectively in a dynamic R&D environment, adapting quickly as technical priorities evolve. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related technical discipline. Early‑career experience (typically 1–3 years) in formulation development, coatings, materials processing, or applied laboratory R&D. Demonstrated ability to work hands‑on in a laboratory setting, building, modifying, and evaluating material formulations or prototypes. Strong experimental intuition, with the ability to learn quickly, troubleshoot effectively, and iterate based on observed results. Comfort working in ambiguous, fast‑moving technical environments with evolving objectives. Ability to collaborate across disciplines while also working independently when needed. Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and sharing results internally. Security Requirements You must meet CISD and DDTC requirements for secret level personal security clearances to be eligible for this role. You are not required to have a security clearance already, although having one is a bonus. If you do not already have CISD and DDTC security clearances, Alchemy will request information during the final steps of the interview process to perform a preliminary assessment for eligibility and likelihood of success in gaining a security clearance. If successful, we will assist you through the administrative process of gaining any required security clearances following your start date. Other Requirements In addition, to be considered for this position you must: Legally be able to work in Canada Pass federal and local criminal background checks Able to commute to our headquarters in Kitchener #J-18808-Ljbffr
