About Vantage Vantage Commodities is a trader-led lumber firm based in Vancouver. We're a small, focused team that values sharp execution and clear thinking. No corporate bloat—just people who know the business and move quickly. The Role We're looking for someone who can build full-stack trading infrastructure, develop quantitative strategies, and execute trades—all in one seat. You'll be creating our trading technology end-to-end. That means building dashboards our traders actually use, integrating live data from CME and Fastmarkets, architecting our historical spreads database, and developing the analytics layer that drives decisions. Front end, back end, data pipelines—you're responsible for the whole stack. You'll also trade. While you're building, you'll learn lumber and start executing. Options, futures, hedging strategies—the systems you build will be the ones you trade on. This isn't a developer role that sits apart from the business. You'll have direct P&L responsibility. Once the infrastructure is in place and you've proven yourself on the desk, you'll run our derivatives operation. Trade lumber futures, expand into other commodities as we grow, and build a team of traders underneath you. What We're Looking For 0–3 years experience — fresh grads with real trading experience welcome Trading background required: crypto, equities, futures, options—you've executed trades and understand how markets move Full-stack development: you can build a React dashboard and the Python backend that powers it Strong Python (Pandas, NumPy, FastAPI/Flask) and SQL Experience integrating APIs and building data pipelines Background in CS, math, physics, statistics, or engineering Comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out without hand-holding You want to build something and then run it Python (Pandas, NumPy, FastAPI/Flask), React/Streamlit, SQL, ETL pipelines, GCP or AWS, market data APIs (CME, Fastmarkets).
