English as a Second Language Instructor - Term Position Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor Overview We are looking for part‑time English as a Second Language Instructors to work on term contracts in two classes to support our ESL day school program until January 30, 2026 (subject to renewal). This position reports to the Coordinator in the program under the supervision of the Manager of Continuing & Community Education. Assignments St Joseph Adult School: 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday – 15 hours a week – LINC Foundations Canadian Language Benchmark 2L (In-person, multilevel class) St Nicholas Adult High School: Tuesday & Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Saturday morning 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – 8 hours a week – Flex English Canadian Language Benchmark 5‑8 (online class) Responsibilities Using various tools/apps to teach language and employment skills in person or online. Create content for the specific curricula that is appropriate to the CLB levels of the course. Implement and maintain learner skills, progress and accurate attendance records. Represent the Continuing Education department with other departments and administrative staff, if required. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid TESL Ontario Certification or proof of TESL Ontario accreditation through the PLAR process (current or completed) and be a member in good standing. Previous general ESL teaching experience with various CLB or ESL levels. Demonstrated strong expertise in using learning technologies effectively to teach in person or online various CLB level ESL or LINC classes (include specific examples and describe in your CV and/or letter of application). Proven understanding and application of PBLA with learners. Proven collaboration, cross‑cultural, and instructional design planning skills. Additional Assets Experience working in Job Readiness / Employment / Skills or Trades Training programs. Work Experience in various industry(ies) or sector(s) or trade(s), ideally in a training or lead role. Proof of ability to integrate those skills into a curriculum. Experience working with employers and in program promotion. Compensation The salary for this position is $42.22 an hour (plus 4% vacation pay and 3.8% statutory holiday pay).
