Senior Software Developer - R&D Location: Ottawa, ON. Employment type: Full Time. Reports to: Director, Software Development. We specialize in integrated solutions, precision instrumentation, data processing, analysis services, and software applications. Role Overview This is a technical leadership role to drive development and architecture of sophisticated instrumentation and data solutions across embedded, data center, and cloud environments. Responsibilities Architectural ownership of complex software systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability. Technical strategy and selection of tools, languages, and frameworks. Resolve challenging system reliability, data integrity, and performance optimization problems. Mentorship and code quality standards; lead code reviews and guide junior developers. Project leadership: define technical roadmaps, estimate projects, identify risks, and drive features through lifecycle. Process improvement: implement tooling and methodology improvements (e.g., CI/CD, testing automation). Requirements 5+ years of professional software development with delivery of large‑scale systems. Expert‑level proficiency in at least two core programming languages (C++, Java, Rust, Python, Go). Deep understanding of networking, communication protocols, concurrency, data structures, and database trade‑offs. Experience designing, integrating, and deploying software in embedded, data center, and cloud environments. Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, and advanced testing methodologies. Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering (or similar). Fluent in English. Preferred Assets Hands‑on experience with Rust for performance‑critical or embedded applications. Experience in low‑level firmware, data acquisition, or high‑throughput data processing.
