OVERVIEW

Established in 1974, the Nor'Westers Athletic Association (NWAA) is a leading provider of youth, women's, and men's rugby programs in the Edmonton Region. Our mission is to provide rugby-playing opportunities to individuals of all ages and abilities, and to develop athletes to their highest potential. We believe in fostering a love for the sport and instilling core values of respect, teamwork, discipline, and excellence in our players.

The NWAA Senior Women’s program is seeking a Head Coach for the 2024 season for our Premier division team, with a goal to develop a 2nd division team for the 2025 season. The regular season schedule consists of two outdoor training sessions (Tuesdays/Thursdays) per week with one game (usually Saturdays). The season starts in May and ends with Provincials in late September.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate a training plan for the upcoming 2024 season in alignment with the NWAA Club vision.
  • Attend and run all Senior Women’s training sessions, including preseason training, for all womenregistered club players.
  • Attend all Senior Women’s games, including any games that may require travel.
  • Complete and submit game sheet rosters.
  • Liaise with other Women’s coaches in the development and delivery of practice plans, game rosters,post-game video review, player feedback and any other team components.
  • Monitor individual player development and provide individual skill development and player feedbackas required.
  • Be receptive to individual feedback from Club directors, Women’s assistant coaches, and Womenclub players.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Women’s Director for any equipment requirements, logistics, travel, andadministration.
  • Conduct end of season meeting(s) with Senior Women’s Team and individual players.
  • Other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • NCCP/IRB Level 2
  • Minimum 3 years experience as head coach or assistant.
  • Experience coaching and/or playing at a high level of senior rugby
  • Experience with player development
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
