Job Description Job Number: JR104900Job Title: Technical Specialist, Applications Department: EO ENHANCE Ontario - Outpatient TeamJob Category: Professional HospitalLocation: EO Head OfficeJob Type: Temporary (Fixed Term), Full time Contract Duration: 12 monthsNumber of Positions: 1Minimum - Maximum Hourly Rate: $45.845 - $53.146Hours: All Shifts Enabling Healthcare Across Networks of Central East (ENHANCE) Ontario (also referred to here as “EO”) is a not-for-profit corporate entity which will provide centralized IT services to its seven member hospitals (Campbellford Memorial Hospital, Haliburton Highlands Health Services, Lakeridge health, Northumberland Hills Hospital, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Ross Memorial Hospital, and Scarborough Health Network) to manage and operate a set of shared digital assets. This will enable its 7 member hospitals across 14 sites to deliver high quality and safe patient care using the shared Epic Clinical Information System (“CIS”) to over 1.5 million patients residing in both rural and urban communities located in the Central East region of Ontario. Position Overview Epic Technical and Senior Technical Specialists are responsible for ongoing maintenance and operations of their assigned applications including triaging and prioritizing issues, troubleshooting, break-fixes, maintenance, system upgrades and enhancements and optimizations with a goal to continue to enable workflows that in the relevant clinical areas. This role will also act as a secondary support contact for the application’s end users. Responsibilities Independent evaluation of systems, analysis of complex issues, troubleshooting, resolution of break-fixes and testing of solutions with application teams. Ongoing maintenance and support for assigned applications with little to no assistance. Lead and participate in testing of application updates, enhancements, custom programming and new releases/quarterly upgrades. Support operational committees and working groups with workflow design/optimization decision‑making by highlighting system capabilities, limitations, risks, etc. Collaborate with Principal Trainers to maintain training materials and content in sync with build updates. Assist users as needed with application support. Review status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership. Requirements Previous build or operations experience with Epic® preferred. Epic certification in any of Ambulatory, ClinDoc, Orders preferred or must complete relevant certification within 3 months of hire. Strong working knowledge of clinical systems and administrative departments, operations and imaging process/workflows an asset. Understanding of clinical workflows. Key Competencies Ability to identify and communicate operational issues and drive resolution ensuring high end-user satisfaction. Ability to handle complex problems and provide innovative solutions achieving high quality business/clinical outcomes. Strong understanding of workflows and procedures related to analyst’s relevant clinical area. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills with ability to logically examine a problem and determine root cause and course of action. Highly self‑motivated, directed and attentive to detail. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high‑pressure environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely with project leadership and stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Willingness to learn new software, systems, and processes. Reliability, perseverance, overcoming obstacles and working under time pressures.
