Electrical Superintendent

Position OverviewAs an Electrical Superintendent you will play a significant part in the success for Kiewit. You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foreman, and/or laborers/craft workers. You will be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman. We are a major industrial contractor that works on projects that involve construction of oil & gas facilities such as oilsands processing, including steam‑assisted gravity drainage facilities, upgrading & refining, midstream facilities, power & co‑generation, terminal projects (ex. Our engineering branch is a leading‑edge division that offers innovative engineering services for our current projects and new pursuits in Canada. Assignments may be anywhere in Canada.ResponsibilitiesMentor and help to grow Jr. SuperintendentsReview and approve the balance of Foremen, journeymen and laborer’s composite labor ratesManage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication)Develop a program to maintain good client relations involving staff on siteInitiate and attend supplementary and regular meeting with client for problem resolution and planningOversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projectionsReview, approve and negotiate change ordersDevelop and implement a plan for project completion and turnoverMaintain daily diary for record keeping purposesEnsure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reportsRecommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural or staff changesReview and approve or reject promotions up to General ForemenQualifications6+ years' Electrical Construction experience with 1+ years being in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity (preferably working on industrial projects such as oil/gas facility construction, renewable energy‑related construction, etc.)Must be a self‑starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervisionAbility to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures and software programsAbility to identify and resolve any problems that may ariseExcellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skillsStrong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning and contract administrationOther RequirementsRegular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees and others individually or in a team environmentPerform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use and other policiesWork during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
