We have worked on iconic buildings such as the Saddledome, the Taylor Family Digital Library, the Bella Concert Hall at Mount Royal University, and the ATCO Commercial Centre, and we’re ready to shape Calgary’s skyline on the next iconic project.As a leader in the construction industry, our portfolio ranges from small facility renovations to commercial/industrial complexes, aviation hangars, recreation and sports facilities, educational institutions, and high‑rise buildings.The RoleThe Superintendent, Electrical & Mechanical, reports to the Director of Field Services and leads our project teams with professionalism, skill, and motivation. The Superintendent ensures that each team member has the knowledge, skills, tools, and resources to achieve project goals. They monitor work execution to keep schedules and budgets on track, and support the Construction Manager in solving mechanical problems efficiently within tight constraints.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direction during functional performance testing of mechanical and electrical systems.Monitor work performance and efficiency of mechanical and electrical employees, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project plans and schedules are followed effectively and within budget.Plan mechanical and electrical components of construction projects and prepare construction schedules with the Project Manager.Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties and help resolve conflicts.Lead M&E project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team’s ongoing progression.Review mechanical and electrical changes received from the architect to ensure they are complete and meet standards; review subcontractor prices on these changes.Complete construction drawing review, shop drawing review, plan and execute commissioning work; oversee owner training and O/M manual delivery.Mentor team members to ensure career growth and development.Work collaboratively with project teams, including clients, architects, and consultants.Ensure site documentation (weather, accidents, field force numbers, concrete pours, etc.) is accurately recorded daily.Review and approve all owners’ force timesheets.What You BringRelevant trade certificate or equivalent experience and 5–6 years of mechanical and electrical construction experience.Working knowledge of scheduling, project management, and contract software.Ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternatives, and develop workable solutions while coordinating multiple building processes.Good understanding of, or ability to find information on, OH&S regulations.Nice to HaveLabor relations experience in both union and non‑union environments.Previous Procore experience.Red Seal, Gold Seal, or GSI Registered status.Employee BenefitsVisit our website to learn more: CANA Group of Companies – CareersJoin the CANA TeamCANA Group of Companies – Available Careers (startdate.ca)Seniority Level: Not ApplicableEmployment Type: Full‑timeJob Function: Engineering and Information TechnologyIndustry: Construction #J-18808-Ljbffr
