We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, obstacle courses, bike trails, survival guides, wide games, and moreJOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible, along with up to 1-2 other counsellors, for the supervision, engagement, program facilitation, and spiritual development of a cabin group of seven to nine campers. You will get the chance to be a role model to these kids while participating in a variety of camp activities. See these campers grow as they conquer the low ropes course, learn how to shoot an arrow with safety and precision in archery, hike a mountain trail, run chase and cheer in a wide game, laugh until your sides hurt during camp improv and so much more. As much as it is a job, it is a great camp ministry and growing experience we strive to provide for you as our staff.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Supervision, care, and engagement of a group of 7-9 campers accompanied by another 1-2 staffFacilitate a Bible study/reflection time for your cabinParticipation and leadership in games, challenges, camp rotations, focus skills, Bible times, chapels, campfires, and other activitiesBehavioral management and de-escalation of campersSleep in cabins with campersSupport activity areas like archery, low ropes courses, bike tracks, ensuring camper safety and engagementContribute to the overall success of camp operations by helping in various support roles as neededMinimum Qualifications and Skills:Servant leadership attitudeCreative problem solvingWorks well with others in a team environmentFlexible, fun, high-energy, and quick thinking/response timePassion for working with Children and YouthAble to live on site in community for 2 months (July and August)Driver's License is an assetGood physical health for wide games, skill building activities, and walking distancesPrevious camp experience is an assetOther Requirements:Being a Christian Organization, we require our employees to agree with and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith. (http://hopemission.com/our-values/)Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector SearchA letter of reference from a ministry or church is an assetAdherence to Hope Mission's Policies and Procedures*Every returning staff member receives a $200 per month raise.
