Subject Matter Expert

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) Process Controls Engineer’s business unit will be the Rally Engineering Inc. (“Rally”) Calgary office but will be based on a client site (in Calgary) for a duration of one year (with the possibility of extension). This role will involve travel (10%).

Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise, implement, maintain, and continually optimize control strategies on Foxboro systems including advanced control and automated procedures.
- Demonstrate programming capabilities on Foxboro DCS.
- Lead the hazard review process for process control strategies.
- Audit controller benefits.
- Develop and maintain HMI’s.
- Provide process control support for unit and capital projects.
- Perform alarm management activities.
- Work as part of the plant multidisciplinary team to monitor plant performance and initiate actions to improve.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity of the control system database.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations.
Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with extensive experience (15+) in process automation/process control engineering.
- Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with APEGA.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results.
- Proven organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated values related to environment, health and safety.
- Ability to adapt and contribute within a dynamic and changing environment.
- Experience with any of the following is of significant value: Pavilion advanced control software, Programming / scripting languages such as: VB script, Jscript, and Powershell.
- Expertise with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Soft skills – such as communication, multi tasking, shifting priorities, meeting deadlines, leading, managing, coaching, organizing, customer services, teamwork, collaboration, etc.
