SAIT’s Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) focuses on non-credit programs supporting corporate training, the individual learner and international projects. We create courses and programs for life-long learning with careers at our core. Our courses range from exploring general interests to up-skilling for career advancement and reskilling for career changes. We complete all background activities required to set up our products for students to purchase and experience several delivery options.
CDARI is seeking a Subject Matter Expert with knowledge of Canadian Environmental Law to review and assist with any edits required for the following course: CLAW 001-Canadian Environmental Law
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) is to make use ofany and allavailable resources, methods, techniques and strategies to ensure curriculum enables studentsuccessin an engaged, face to face environment. TheSubject Matter Expertis expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learningatmospherewhich is pedagogically sound, technically supported,and innovative in nature.
The Role:
Review and revise content:
- Verify textbook version
- Revise assessment strategy
- Create assignments from existing activities, work to eliminate the midterm and final exam
Course Schedule:
- Must be updated to match adaptations made for the Construction Management International Program. Based off length of course, review activities to support the schedule build/update
- Revise weeks/sessions column headers
- Revise rows in activities column
Content Organizer:
- Review weekly learning activities, help determine which activities remain as homework/pre-work, and which would be best to incorporate into in-class activities
PowerPoints:
- Review, revise, and cut down on existing material
- Cut down on and embed selected activities, discussion forum content, and Facilitator Guide notes into Facilitator Guide slides
- Duplicate for Student version
Additional
· Confirm links work – help source a link if needed
· Identify/create in-class activities with Rubrics
Start date: As soon as possible
End date: December 15th 2023
Hours: 15 hours allocated
Qualifications- Depth of knowledge with Canadian and Alberta legal provisions for Business, Employment, Environment, International and Human Rights
- Previous experience with Canadian and Alberta legal systems
- An understanding of Construction Law and Environmental Assessment Law in Canada
- Undergraduate degree, LLB or equivalent
- Masters or terminal degree is preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills are essential
- Previous experience developing curriculum (preferred)
- Works well in a team environment
- Have strong attention to detail in written communication
- Ability to read and interpret specific curriculum
- Maintain reliability and accountability to timelines and project milestones
- Maintain attentiveness to the deliverables of the engagement and respond to communication in a timely manner
- Training and knowledge of adult learning fundamentals
- Basic level of Proficiency working in Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
- Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
- Positive & respectful attitude
- Proficiency with virtual meeting tools and technology: Zoom, MS Teams
Desired:
- Previous teaching experience considered an asset
- Previous curriculum development considered an asset
- Formal training or education in facilitation or teaching considered an asset
- Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace or Moodle is an asset)
