Manager, Recruitment and Retention (12 month term) Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS), manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and medical communications operations in Nova Scotia under contract with the provincial government. EMC also operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Position Type: Temporary – 12‑month maternity leave replacement. The role is full‑time. Reports to: Director, Human Resources. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and provide performance feedback to the recruitment and retention team. Oversee the full cycle recruitment process for all healthcare services positions, including paramedics, nurses, transport operators, communication officers, Telehealth, and support and management roles. Collaborate with HR leaders across Medavie/EMC to proactively identify, plan, and develop workforce plans for long‑term organizational staffing requirements. Partner with human resources leadership to ensure efficient, effective, and seamless HR processes that support the business. Lead the HR Analytics portfolio for KPIs and ad‑hoc reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Utilize data analytics to forecast and analyze trends, informing recruitment and retention initiatives. Support development and execution of sourcing strategies and talent pipelines using multiple sourcing channels. Participate in creating the employee value proposition for frontline healthcare talent and ensure inclusion and diversification of all talent pipelines. Develop processes and key metrics to monitor progress against the strategy and forecasted requirements. Assess competitors, legislative changes, and understand their impact on business and recruitment efforts. Stay informed on innovative recruiting techniques and share trends with stakeholders. Oversee deployment and evolution of new employee onboarding for all areas. Required Skills & Abilities Clear communicator and great listener with high emotional intelligence. Proactive and able to perform in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment with competing priorities. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with excellent written and verbal communication. Proven track record of developing and influencing recruiting best practices and implementing them. Team‑oriented, able to manage multiple clients and provide strong leadership throughout the recruitment lifecycle. Organizational savvy, able to build credibility and establish common ground. Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments. Advances diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Collaborative and influential, yet able to stand firm when necessary. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business with CPHR or Recruiter designation preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in recruitment and brand management (health care experience preferred, especially in unionised recruitment). 5 years of leadership experience leading a team. Experience in a metrics‑driven environment is required. Tech savvy with full command of digital sourcing tools and social media sites. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proven experience with business process design and automation. PMP certification and/or related program‑management experience is an asset. Experience with Workday HCM is an asset.
