Senior Business Analyst – Capital Markets Join us at RBC to lead business analysis initiatives in Capital Markets Operations, focusing on Settlements, Clearing, and Middle Office functions. Job Description The role operates within the Portfolio & Change Management (PCM) group and serves as a Senior Business Analyst on various initiatives across Settlements and Clearing Services and Middle Office within the Business & Client Services (BCS) department. It involves business or process improvement, technology enhancement, system implementations, operational risk reduction, quality improvement, regulatory soundness, and cost reduction. Define project parameters, success criteria, solutions, and timelines, deploying best practices in process analysis, requirements documentation, project planning, testing, and stakeholder communication. Lead and participate in projects of various sizes and scopes, serving as SCS’s primary project contact and providing business analysis expertise. Research, formulate, propose and implement strategic solutions, identifying process improvement and re‑engineering opportunities. Ensure team execution delivers productivity improvements that positively impact the bottom line and client satisfaction. Provide direct support and guidance to Business Analysts and assist management as required. Liaise with Operations, Technology, Business and other key teams to define and review requirements. Provide Capital Markets Operations subject‑matter expertise. Document UAT strategies and create test cases where required. Support system testing and creation of user documentation. Build strong, long‑term relationships throughout the RBC organization. Maintain continuous improvement of own capacity, skills and expertise. Provide concise and effective updates to Project Managers, Program Lead and stakeholders. Qualifications 5+ years of Capital Markets Operations Business Analyst experience. Comprehensive Settlements Operations experience with deep knowledge of post‑trade lifecycle processes. Expertise across Settlement, Clearing, Reconciliation functions, workflows and systems. Strong understanding of CCP and Central Securities Depository (CSD) functions. Proven ability to manage processes and stakeholders across end‑to‑end Capital Market journeys and transformational change. Minimum bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Finance, Engineering, Science or Math. Good working knowledge of Capital Markets operational functions, particularly Settlements and Clearing. Detailed understanding of the fundamentals of Capital Markets trading and transaction lifecycle. Strong knowledge of supporting systems used within Operations. Detailed understanding of Capital Markets organizational structure. Familiarity with regional differences in operational processing within RBC Capital Markets. Skillful use of Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in VBA. Self‑motivated, able to work independently and within a team. Ability to prioritize, plan and execute work to meet tight deadlines. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Detail oriented. Capability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across the enterprise. What’s in it for you?
