Reporting to the Director, Community Safety Operations, the Manager, Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity leads the implementation, evaluation, and ongoing maintenance of the University's Emergency Preparedness Program, ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal legislation. The role oversees emergency planning and training initiatives, including the Emergency Response Warden program, unit-specific response plans, tabletop exercises, and business continuity planning to maintain operations during emergencies, labour disruptions, and other incidents. The Manager ensures readiness of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), manages emergency communication systems, and provides direct support during emergencies. Working collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty, the Manager promotes campus safety through inclusive practices and sound judgment. The role also manages program budgets, supports awareness campaigns, and may represent Emergency Management in meetings with senior administration and external partners to address issues and ensure timely resolutions. To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following: Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant disciplines such as Emergency/Disaster Management or Business Continuity Planning.Membership in Ontario Association of Emergency Management and/or International Association of Emergency Managers.Certified by the Ontario Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM) to deliver training to the Provincial Standard, including Basic Emergency Management and IMS Level 100/200 or equivalent.Professional certification or designation in emergency management such as IAEM (International Association of Emergency Managers), CEM (Certified Emergency Manager), DRI (Disaster Recovery Institute International), ABCP (Associate Business Continuity Professional), or CMM (Certified Municipal Manager). Experience: 5 years of experience in emergency or disaster management, emergency response planning, business continuity planning, or a related discipline. Also includes managing Emergency Preparedness systems or programs as well as developing and delivering training programs (in-person and online).3 years of management experience.
